Many people have contacted me about the HSUS decision to have Michael Vick participate in the End Dogfighting program. If anyone wants to be heard here is one way to use your voice. Contact Wayne Pacelle directly at blog@humanesociety.org. Communication can certainly be direct and forceful but opinions should be stated respectfully. Those who want to go one step further can send their thoughts to each individual on the HSUS board of directors. http://www.hsus.org/about_us/board_and_staff/ That t…

Alpha dog here, alpha dog there, alpha dog everywhere. I thought, if I hear one more shout-out to showing your dog that you are the alpha leader of the pack by all manner of growling and man-handling, surely I will take Karen Pryor’s advice to not shoot the dog, and shoot myself instead. So puppy number 5 comes along and I am like "whew" it's over. WOW she had FIVE! That's just crazy seeing how the average litter is 1-3 pups, right. I keep th…

I finally found my Mom this morning. A red cardinal flying in the garden of the house next door. I am very relieved to know she is here with me. After she flew away I thought about what Edna would say about all the - umm - brouhaha sometimes associated with things that are new. New beginnings, new positions, new alliances, new partnerships, new coalitions. Some of her oft quoted sayings came to mind immediately. "Some people don't have the sense God gave a mule." "Be careful with your words, dea…

For the record, umm, I'd like to say that in my book this blog is better than chocolate, better than crunchy peanut butter, better than a good red wine you should not have purchased. But did. For your own damn self. So I'm thinking there are a few of you guys out there who will feel the same way. And if not you probably know someone who will.

What can I say, I love Davie Dog Park!!
It's great.
I have to say though, I was so nervous about unleashing Ricco because of him being deaf and some of the precautions I feel I have to take to avoid any uncessary incidents. He's just misunderstood and people don't understand.
The first time I took him I kept him leashed the entire time. I was too scared to unleash him. Last week I took him and brought my water bottle (my methods of correction) and unleashed him. He did great!! And he loved every…
