Zoie was about to pop! It was insane. Vet did ultrasound and said, looks like we'll be having about 4 pups, maybe 5 puppies, So, everything goes as normal delivery. Zoie's labor progresses. What a surprise, when she was on her forth pup, it looked as though she was still extremely huge! So I though, well maybe she is goig to have 5 puppies. So puppy number 5 comes along and I am like "whew" it's over. WOW she had FIVE! That's just crazy seeing how the average litter is 1-3 pups, right. I keep thinking, ok, she is still a little large to be done but it seemed as though labor had stopped.


So, I tried to get Zoie to go outside with me to help get her labor going again and she was little hesitant for a second but ran right on outside without any coaxing.

No sooner we are ouside, there goes another contraction and she sarts to push. Oh my word, we are about to have a puppy on the lawn! So I say "come on Zoie, let's go inside", because I don't dare to try and pick her up in this state. So my wonderful Zoie, sensing the fear in my voice and eager to please me, comes inside hunched over as if in a "pooping position" while walking inside. I coaxed her back into the whelping box just in time! Whew!

Surely she is finished, she just delivered 6 puppies. So, I begin taking care of the newbies and iodining everything, cleaning up etc... and I leave to weigh a puppy. When I come back, I did a head count. Zoie is nursing as if nothing is wrong. This time I counted 7!

I asked Zoie "well where did that one come from?" and she just looked at me like I was crazy. That quick...she had delivered another puppy, cleaned up her mess and was nursing the babies.

Zoie had 7 piebald puppies. They are so precious. She had 3 blue and tan pieblads (white basecoat), 2 chocolate & tan piebalds, and two black & tan piebalds. Check out our pictures of our sweet little angels in our photos!
